Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of TutorThread's website at tutorthread.ai and related services (the "Service"), operated by TutorThread ("TutorThread", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility & accounts
- You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. If you are a minor under applicable law, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
- You agree to provide accurate information, keep your password confidential, and are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Access during the pilot may require a valid invitation or access code.
2. The Service
TutorThread connects students with tutors for live tutoring and provides AI-assisted tutoring, messaging, lesson scheduling (including optional Google Calendar and Google Meet integration), reviews, and, where enabled, payments and tutor payouts. Tutors are independent providers, not employees or agents of TutorThread; we provide the platform that connects them with students and do not supervise or guarantee any tutor or lesson.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Violate any law or the rights of others, or use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm anyone;
- Post false, misleading, infringing, or inappropriate content, or impersonate others;
- Circumvent the platform to avoid fees, or solicit users off-platform in breach of these Terms;
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
We may review, moderate, suspend, or remove content or accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Tutors, lessons & reviews
- Tutors must be approved before offering lessons and are responsible for the accuracy of their profiles and the quality of their tutoring.
- Bookings, cancellations, and any first-lesson or late-cancellation policies shown in the Service form part of your agreement when you book.
- Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experience. We may remove reviews that violate these Terms.
5. Payments, fees & payouts
Where payments are enabled, you authorize us and our payment processor (Stripe) to charge your selected payment method for lessons and applicable fees. Tutor payouts are made through our payout providers subject to their terms. Prices and fees are shown before you book. Except as required by law or expressly stated in a posted policy, payments are non-refundable. You are responsible for any taxes associated with your use of the Service.
6. AI tutoring disclaimer
AI tutoring responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. They are provided for educational assistance only and are not professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice. Verify important information independently. Do not submit sensitive personal information to AI chats.
7. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit (messages, profile information, reviews, and the like). You grant TutorThread a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and use that content as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service. You are responsible for your content and must have the rights necessary to share it.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and the TutorThread name and logo, is owned by TutorThread or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose; no other rights are granted.
9. Third-party services
The Service integrates third-party services such as Google (sign-in, Calendar, Meet) and Stripe (payments). Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant third party's terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY TUTORING WILL ACHIEVE A PARTICULAR RESULT.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TUTORTHREAD AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $100.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TutorThread from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as content license, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [your governing jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, unless applicable law requires otherwise. (Set your operating entity's jurisdiction before public launch.)
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
